Christmas Movie News

Christmas Movie and TV This Week

As you may have heard, it’s July….Christmas In July, that is.

We are well past the half-way point to the big day, I hear the carols, smell the chestnuts and see Clark Griswold sliding down the ladder already.

Sugar plums are dancing and Christmas TV and Movie news begins to flow a little more frequently now.

Recapping the past week’s Christmas Movie and TV News:

– Christmas Cupid, an ABC Family Original that aired last Christmas season is scheduled for release on dvd on October 11, 2011

– Announced today, one our favorite Rankin Bass Classics “Twas the Night Before Christmas” will be headed to blu-ray for the first time on October 4, 2011

– Joining Christmas Cupid for dvd release on October 11, 2011 is another ABC Family Original Movies and one of the better releases last year, The Night Before, The Night Before Christmas starring Jennifer Beals.

– We’re counting down the Top Ten Not-Christmas, Well Sorta Movies right here on Christmas Flick.  So far, we have:

#10 – Funny Farm, #9 – Die Hard 2, #8 – While You Were Sleeping, #7 – The Ref…..stay tuned in the next few days as the countdown continues.

– Those raunchy guys, Harold and Kumar, return to theaters this Christmas in “A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas”, hitting the cineplex this November.  Today it received its no so Christmas friendly “R” rating for strong and crude sexual content, graphic nudity, pervasive language, drug use and some violence.  Sounds like the kiddies need to skip this one.

– ABC and Hallmark have picked up the previously canceled “Hallmark Hall of Fame” series of movies from CBS.  Look for a new movie the Sunday before Christmas.

– CTS has become Canada’s Christmas Channel, will celebrate the holiday season with Christmas movies every night of the week between 7pm to 9pm beginning December 11th until December 26th. Primetime Christmas specials include the premier run of the documentary series Journey to Christmas, and a one hour musical concert by the award-winning Toronto Mass Choir. Feature films include titles such as: Jack Frost, Meet Me in St. Louis, and The Family Man.
