Polar Express (2004)
Exclusive Review By: DVDGUY
Do you believe in Santa Claus? If you've never seen him, do you still believe? That's pretty much the idea behind the movie The Polar Express.
The main character, who is a young boy (with no name apparently) is at that age, where children start to question if Santa is real or not. The evidence against Santa is a lot and very convincing to a young boy. After going to bed on Christmas eve, the boy is awakened by the arrival of the polar express. At first he is weary, but he boards the train and they are off to the north pole. On the train he meets other children, a know it all boy, a smart girl who has much more faith than he does, and a young boy from the same town who lives on the "other side of the tracks" who is quiet and keeps to himself.
There are some entertaining moments on the train including a great song about hot chocolate, an exciting ride on the top of the train, a run in with many caribou & an action sequence that takes place on a frozen lake. The boy meets another passenger on the roof of the train, this one a hobo who turns out to be a ghost.
All this leads to the arrival of the children at the north pole. After the 3 friends are separated from the rest of the passengers, they make their way back and eventually find themselves in Santa's sack. The children are soon discovered and returned to the group. Its finally time for the arrival of Santa, of course if you're a young boy who isn't sure if you believe in Santa will you be able to see him? Will you be able to hear sleigh bells ringing? Our young main character (still with no name) finally realizes what belief is about.
Once the festivities are over its time to head home and say goodbye to new friends and Merry Christmas to all!
