Die Hard (1988)

For New York City cop, John McClane, facing Christmas without his wife and kids is too much to take. So, he heads to Los Angeles, hoping to fix his marriage. He arrives at his wife's newly constructed office building, and relaxes, while she and her co-workers celebrate Christmas. What follows is a epic battle between a team of highly trained and well armed terrorists and a barefoot cop armed with his 9mm and his wits.
